Para-what?

Paraphila is an umbrella term used to cover the family of philias. In sexology, it is sometimes more widely used to cover atypical sexual interests or deviances. While the word paraphilia may seem alien, the philias it encompasses may seem slightly familiar. Think fetishes and unusual desires and you're on the right track!

Ohmmm's Law

For many great sex can be electrifying, however, for some, electrifying sex is just that. While many of us turn the dimmer switch to get down the business of pleasure, the electrophiliac is giving the voltage knob a turn for literally shocking levels of pleasure.

Brenda Love's Encyclopedia of Unusual Sex Practices defines electrophilia as "arousal from electricity. Electric shock is used as a form as a form of titillation or light torture depending on the amount of voltage chosen by the recipient."

This consensual BDSM play involves the placing of low-voltage electrodes below the waist for some pubic hair-raising action. While it guarantees excitement on some level, care should be taken as, well, you're dealing with voltage. Experts suggest that electrodes are used with lubricants and recommend that the primary concern for this type of play is safety. Many pleasure guides for beginners are available for the electro virgin.

When exploring electro stimulation, it's important to remember that not just any current will do! Low voltage is best and there are many places on the net to purchase toys specifically designed for this use. So before you go slipping into the toaster, research products on the net!

Companies, such as Dante Amore's Paradise Electrical Stimulations Inc, have set out to revolutionise the electrosex industry. Observing crude and archaic experimentation with electro stimulation in the San Fransisco BDSM scene, Amore set about creating better toys with enhanced control levels.

The company founder's profile on the website reveals his desire to: "change the way that we think about sex in order to significantly enhance human sexual interaction." Well, with a product line that includes electrodes named Deep Throat Big Jim and the Samurai, he'd certainly increase the laughter levels during sexual encounters in my boudoir...which isn't always a bad thing!
