Para-what?

Paraphila is an umbrella term used to cover the family of philias. In sexology, it is sometimes more widely used to cover atypical sexual interests or deviances. While the word paraphilia may seem alien, the philias it encompasses may seem slightly familiar. Think fetishes and unusual desires and you're on the right track!

Super-size Me!!

Trawling the internet, I came across the Pimp That Snack site last night. After feeling a bit of sugar lust, my mind wandered to feederism.

Feederism is a sexual practice which centers on the practice of eating large amounts of food to alter the body. This sexual fetish involves the usually more dominant feeder providing the submissive gainer, also known as a cow, with an abundant supply of food for the purpose of weight gain or for arousal from feeding.

This consensual practice has come under a great deal of public scrutiny as a result of media interest in this practice while examining the growing problem of obesity. While there are many subsects of the fetish, it is widely accepted by its community as fairly harmless and more fantasy-based than reality. However, like other forms of abuse, one party or both may not realize they are in harmful relationships. Gainers run the same medical risks as any other obese or overweight person including heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.

Catering to those with fantasies of growing fatter or feeding another, it isn't surprising that this sort of fetish isn't considered 'normal'. Popular culture's desire for fitness and health are at odds with the notion of obesity and weight gain being encouraged. With celebrities and members of the public striving for size zero en masse, it isn't surprising that a woman wanting to be super-sized or a man adoring her for it would come as a shock.

Several online groups have popped up, with very specific tendencies. Yahoo and My Space both have a wide range of groups aimed for feeders and cows alike. Within this community, subsects exist ranging from young women to the furries. This fetish touches upon other fetishes including: body expansion, inflation, maeiusophilia, and vorarephilia.
